Gentle Yoga + Meditation

This calming, slow-paced class is a journey of self-discovery through experiential somatic movement. How does your body move? How much does it want to move today? How does it feel when you move? Can you feel your body from the inside out? It’s a journey of self-care; learning how to honor how you are showing up on any given day and practicing to that level. It’s a journey into self, learning about the whole person, and diving into a deeper understanding of your true nature. 
 

The breath is combined with body movement for a deeper awareness and reflective experience. This class is all levels and anyone working with physical challenges. Individuals with the curiosity and desire to dive more deeply into their own self-care will find this inner work rewarding and possibly transforming.

We will build toward standing and balancing postures to increase strength and stability, linking breath to movement. We will slow down and refocus on body awareness and rest in savasana.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a state in which the body completely relaxes through guidance, much like a guided meditation. It is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. By bringing your attention to the physical sensations in the body, you become accustomed to them, which allows you to forget the sensation altogether.

This release of the outside world allows you to tune your awareness inward.This method of relaxation is said to be equivalent to two hours of sleep and can help release anxiety, stress, and even lower your blood pressure.


In our Monday night practice, we will begin with a physical body scan, starting from the feet and moving all the way up to the crown of the head. After the physical body scan is complete and you are deeply relaxed, we will move our awareness inward, focusing on our energetic body system, which is also known as the chakras. We’ll explain and scan each chakra, balancing each one and focusing on positive intention to bring total energetic balance back into the body, mind and soul.

The use of props will be encouraged as we want to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible. This class is for all levels, and is suitable for beginners. You may want to bring a journal to record any insights that flow through to you during class.

If you attend this class regularly you probably will not look better in a swimsuit but, you might discover that you are more comfortable in the body you already inhabit! You may uncover habits in your thinking and movement that do not serve you. Yoga brings changes you never expected!

You will be guided in classic poses and breathing practices as well as somatic explorations. All levels are welcome, from curious beginners, to those with a strong personal practice who may be seeking to soften the edges of their practice and to perhaps nurture a more gentle side.

It is the conscious and kind exploration of self. “Gentle Movement” is a journey of balance allowing for shifts and subtleties within and around us to unfold, as we gracefully flow upon the calm fluidity of breath. In this class, we focus on breath, how it moves the body in traditional yogic postures and quiets the mind. This is an arc style class, meaning we begin and end with more gentle poses while the heart of the class moves with some heat to release and strengthen the body, focus the mind and illuminate the spirit. A lengthy savasana indulges the entire spirit with anointing oils. Let your little light shine more vibrantly!

Breathe, Flow, Relax

ALL LEVELS 

Breathe, Flow, Relax is a vinyasa-style class designed to promote balance in the mind-body. We begin the class with breath work (pranayama) to begin the process of being present before moving into a flowing sequence to warm and strengthen the body. Finally, deep relaxation (savasana) to completely integrate the benefits of the practice. Proper alignment is emphasized for safety and to offer the yogi/yogini an opportunity to deepen the pose. All levels are welcome.

Experience a gentle introduction to most basic yoga postures. Hatha is a classical system that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. You will end up leaving class feeling longer, looser, and more relaxed.

MIXED LEVELS - ACTIVE

Listen to your inner wisdom and intuition as you connect to your spirit guides in this vinyasa style class. You'll have the option to pick a spirit guide oracle card to assist you in your journey (this is optional and meant to be fun!). This class will be quicker paced, but centered around grace, balance, and flexibility. Connect to your body, mind and spirit, and maybe even your spirit guide. Enjoy a guided relaxation meditation and aromatherapy during your savasana, or final resting pose, as you release any tension or stress as you begin your weekend.

This class is heart centered and a vinyasa based sequence. Together we will practice self love and compassion as we focus on inviting positivity inward and loving our true self. We will use breath with movement as we move through warm ups, twists, sun salutations, standing poses and finish with calming poses on the mat. We will end with a restful savasana, inviting peace in the stillness! OM.

This class is suitable for all levels. Experience a slow moving gentle practice that allows time to reconnect with your body. Relaxing and meditative. Looking to slow down from life’s hectic pace? The slower pace of this class allows you to feel the effects of the practice in each pose.  Be prepared to relax and unwind. Then this class will help.

Sunday Schedule
 

A gentle yet uplifting flow that is inspired by the ancient teachings of yoga. Jill will weave in thoughts and principles inspired by the Yoga Sutras & Bhagavad Gita for a meditative practice, focusing on the rhythm of breath, intention, and gratitude to move you through the flow. This spirited practice will end with meditation and a beautiful and restful savasana. A truly beautiful way to end the week. Beginners welcome as modifications will be offered.

The Yin practice is more restful than a power ashtanga practice, more athletic than a nap, and more effortful than restorative.

We offer ourselves to the postures for an extended period of time, 2-5 minutes or more, and we practice resting in the postures in a quieter, more passive way. Physically you may find that you go “deeper” in the poses than in a more active practice. You will be guided through breath practices, body scans and mindful awareness as you hold the shapes.The practice is suitable for all levels. Beginners welcome!
