Laurie Dunham, RD, LD, CEDRD and I are excited for this new discussion group starting Wednesday, February 5th from 7-8:15 pm at Grace Tree. We each have been trained and licensed to bring the 5 Competencies of the Be Body Positive Model to anyone who wishes to make peace with their bodies and lives. As a registered dietitian and a psychotherapist who work as members of a treatment team for eating disordered adolescents, we have a true desire to address body image concerns before they develop into eating disorders, and this seems to us to be a wonderful way to do so.
The purpose of the Be Body Positive discussion group is to provide a non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their personal issues with beauty, health, and identity. This is a space where you will also investigate the larger context of why so many people in our country hate their bodies and what we can do to make positive change--individually and together. Be Body Positive communities become places where people come together without comparison or judgment of self or others, which allows for true connection and healing.
This group is a place for storytelling, where each person's voice is "correct" for their personal story. The philosophy underpinning The Body Positive's work is truly universal because it honors every person's unique knowledge, life experiences, and ancestral inheritance. Rather than dictating a prescriptive set of rules to follow, we guide people through patient, mindful inquiry to find what works uniquely in their own lives to bring about positive self-care changes and a peaceful relationship with their bodies.
By honoring each individual voice and experience, and listening to one another from a place of non-judgment and curiosity, we have the opportunity to create a truly brave and transformative community.
Your investment for this group is $499. If you would like to attend, please pre-register by January 24th and receive a $50 discount making your investment $449.
